چکیده

Subnanosecond infrared pulses have been measured by nonc011inear secondharmonic generation in tellurium. The method is very practical because due to the high refractive index the fine tuning of the phase matching is easily obtained by rotating the crystal around the optic axis.

Efficiency of a BaF, scintillator detector for 15-150 MeV neutrons

BaF, scintillator detectors are now in common use for the measurement of y-rays over a wide energy range because of the relatively high detection efficiency and the fast response which allows subnanosecond timing [1,2]. The BaF, scintillation light consists primarily of two components with decay times of or = 600 ps and TV = 620 ns [2], and the ratio of the intensities associated with each of t...

Operation and output pulse characteristics of an extremely compact capillary-discharge tabletop soft-x-ray laser.

We report on the operating parameters and laser output pulse characteristics of an extremely compact discharge-pumped 46.9-nm laser of a size comparable with that of many widely utilized visible and ultraviolet gas lasers. This capillary-discharge laser generated subnanosecond laser pulses with energies of as much as 25microJ by single-pass amplification in an 18.6-cm-long argon-plasma column. ...

Subnanosecond, time-resolved, broadband infrared spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation

A facility for subnanosecond time-resolved ~pump-probe! infrared spectroscopy has been developed at the National Synchrotron Light Source of Brookhaven National Laboratory. A mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser produces 2 ps duration, tunable near-infrared pump pulses synchronized to probe pulses from a synchrotron storage ring. The facility is unique on account of the broadband infrared from the syn...

Nondestructive Sensor Using Microwaves from a Laser Plasma

Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is a nondestructive sensor technology for detecting underground objects. GPR requires large-aperture antennas to survey a remote location precisely because of the expansion of microwaves. We propose a laser-driven GPR (LGPR) that uses microwave radiation from a laser plasma to achieve remote sensing. LGPR is expected to provide good spatial resolution with a small...
